With Powertools for Google Drive, Microsoft Office files can be opened directly from your Drive. No more downloading, editing, and re-uploading the file manually. With Powertools, working on Microsoft Office files becomes as easy as working on GSuite Documents.

How to edit Microsoft Office file?
  1. Locate MS Office file in Google Drive you would like to work on
  2. Click on the "Edit" button next to the file name
  3. Powertools will automatically open your file on your desktop
  4. Proceed to edit the document as required (4)

  5. Click the “Save” button on the top menu of the MS Office document (5)

  6. Close the MS Office document (6)

Note that the “Last ModifiedTime and Date have been automatically updated to the last time and date you saved the document. It enables to verify that the edits have been taken into account.

Note: the "Edit" button will appear only if you're using the Powertools chrome extension and works only for MSOffice files inside a Powertools Workspace.
