When using the feature "Edit in Office" you may have a Security message from Google Chrome.

Chrome opens the popup displayed below called "External Protocol request". 

This message is here to tell you that you clicked a link which will open an external (i.e not chrome) application on your computer. 

  • This behavior is normal
  • Just click "Launch Application" to continue the opening process
  • If you don't want to get prompt with this message each time you open an Office file within Powertools just click the checkbox "Remember my choice for all links of this type"



When Office is opening you may be prompt with a warning message (Windows only). 

  • This behavior is normal
  • Just click "Yes" to continue the opening process

Office - Editing mode

Once Office has been launched, the file will be opened in read-only mode (for the same security concern). 

  • Just click "Enable Editing" to be able to edit the file

If you don't want to be prompted with those messages all the time, please add "" in your windows trusted sites. Trusted sites list is located in "control panel" then "internet options"
